GACE Parapro Assessment
The Paraprofessional Assessment is designed to enable individuals and school districts to satisfy state and federal No Child Left Behind requirements that call for "highly qualified paraprofessionals." These requirements indicate that paraprofessionals working in Title I schools or paid with Title I funds must meet a rigorous standard of quality and demonstrate, through formal state or local assessment,
The Paraprofessional Assessment is a single test that consists of 90 selected-response questions and lasts for 2-1/2 hours. The morning test will start exactly at 9:00am, the afternoon test starts at 1:00pm (unless stated otherwise). It is advisable to arrive at the testing location at least 30 minutes before the test start time.
Because of limited space, testing registration will be conducted on a "First-come First-serve" basis. Registration is only accepted online by clicking on the desired date below.
CONFIRMATION OF REGISTRATION IS SENT BY E-MAIL.
Registration will be finalized once you have replied to the confirmation e-mail.
Once registered for this test, it is highly recommended that you be present on time on the specified date. If you are absent without having previously cancelled your initial registration, you will have one more possibility to register. If you are again a "No-Show", FDRESA-ETC will no longer be able to accept any further registrations in your name for a 12 month period. Cancelations must be received before 1am on the day prior to testing day to not count as a "No-Show".
Onsite check-in for the morning test is between 8:15am and 9:00am and between 12:15pm and 1:00pm for the afternoon test.
Because of laws protecting confidentiality and privacy, only the test-taker may register for a test. On the day of the test, you will be asked to register on the computer and at that time you will need to provide your social security number.
The fee for the assessment is $40 CASH (exact amount) to be paid onsite by 9:00am/1:00pm on the day of the test. Therefore, please arrive by at least 8:30am/12:30pm.

Violation of test site rules, including the possession or use of prohibited materials during a test administration, may result in the voiding of your score.
The following are prohibited at the test site:
DO NOT bring any unauthorized aids or prohibited materials, listed below, with you to the test room. Please DO NOT bring your pocket books, purses, backpacks or other bags to the testing center. If you do bring any of these items, you will be required to return them to your vehicle or leave them in a designated secure area.

What Is It?
The Paraprofessional assessment measures the skills and knowledge in reading, writing, and math possessed by prospective and practicing paraprofessionals. It also measures their ability to apply those skills and knowledge when assisting in classroom instruction.
Who Takes It?
This assessment is taken by prospective and practicing paraprofessionals to demonstrate that they are knowledgeable in reading, writing, and math, and that they are capable of assisting in classroom instruction.
How Long Is It?
Test takers have 2½ hours to complete the assessment.
What Subjects Are Covered?
Subjects include reading, writing, and math.
What Are the Questions Like?
The test has 90 selected-response questions, approximately two-thirds of which focus on basic skills and knowledge. The remaining one-third focuses on applying skills in the classroom. All test questions are in English.

The Paraprofessional assessment is given in a computer-delivered format.
What should I bring to the test site?
On the test day, you must bring the following personal identification:
If the name on your identification differs from the name in which you are registered, you must bring official verification of the change (e.g., marriage certificate, court order). Without the proper identification, you will not be allowed to take the test.
Note: Notepaper and pencil will be provided for you to use during testing; however, no other notepaper or note-taking devices may be used during the test.
How and when do I receive my score report?
When you are finished testing, your unofficial score report will be displayed immediately, along with information about how to read your score report. If you passed the test, a second copy of your official score report will be mailed by U.S. mail to the address you provided during the registration process approximately one week after your testing date.

If I don't pass the test, may I retake it?
Yes. However, you must wait at least 28 days before retaking the test. Examinees that retake the same test before 28 days have passed are subject to having their scores voided.
